A research based project with the objective of creating a kitchen tool either for preparing or serving a specific food. Since my favorite food is a dessert called Baked Alaska, I worked on a slicer that could accurately slice the cake without upsetting its aesthetic.

SELECTING A FOCUS:
I decided to focus on the act of slicing the dessert or the act of flambéing the dessert when it is served in a professional environment

SKETCHES:
Sketches for potential product ideas. Some of the sketches meet the requirement of accurately slicing the dessert, while the remaining sketches meet the flambéing requirement.
MODELS:
Sketch models, followed by two chosen designs and their final models. Sketch models were made for select sketches that worked best for their function. The chosen designs were two designs, one for each function (slicing and flambéing). These chosen designs were then followed by final works like models to illustrate their function.

FINAL CHOSEN DESIGN:

MAKING IT BETTER:
I decided to redesign the slicer handle and the mechanism because I was no longer satisfied with the function of the product. Hence, I experimented with handle designs and devised a new mechanism.
