Milled Aluminium Speaker

A milled and lathed speaker that was created through a metal swap project that involved designing an object and then handing a detailed design to a fabricator who would then create the object. The speaker was designed by Nicholas Hinckfuss and fabricated by myself. 

 
Slit is large enough for a smart phone to slide through. A taper is strategically placed in the larger part of the speaker to amplify sound from the phone as it is released from a phone speaker at the bottom of the device. As sound is released from the phone, it travels upwards into the speaker and is amplified as the taper widens the top of the speaker to naturally amplify sound.

TWO PART VIEW:

The two speaker parts were combined using three screws that fit through three aligned threaded holes. The speaker could therefore be easily taken apart for cleaning purposes.

CLOSE UP VIEW:

Both parts were finished by sanding them on the lathe and deburred using a small file. 

Screws are fit through the threaded holes and then tightened using an allen wrench.
